A uSwitch survey has shown that as many as 23 million households in the UK will go without heating at some point this winter. That works out at around 9 out of 10 households! The main reason for this drastic course of action is because of the ever increasing costs of energy bills.

Many of those hardest hit by pricey heating bills are those who have yet to replace their traditional windows, a chief cause of such financial strife. Therefore it makes sense for anyone forced to pay a high price for energy to invest in some UPVC windows with double glazing included.

This is because any heat generated in the home will be trapped by the glass contained within a UPVC window so that you can use your boiler far less frequently. All the draughts that you would notice in the past because of your old windows will disappear in an instant when you appoint an installer to fix the problem with modern-day replacements.

The overall cost of living has gone up in recent times which is another reason why people are being forced to rely on their heating system less. A new set of windows will solve that problem and allow you to spend your disposable income elsewhere.

Although the windows are the main cause of heat loss in the home, another source of the problem can be the front and back doors of the home. If you suspect that cold air is passing through either of your doors you should exchange them for UPVC doors. As with a UPVC window they will store heat and warm up your home at any time of the year.

The money you save on energy due to the successful performance of new windows and doors will more than justify the initial cost of paying for them.

Fuel poverty is of grave concern throughout the UK. In Scotland alone it is predicted that around one million homeowners are living in fuel poverty. As a result, the Scottish government has pledged an extra £5 million to help tackle it by providing property owners with heating systems and insulation.

Whether the coalition government will follow suit remains to be seen, but it would seem unlikely with widespread cuts being announced across the board and the possibility of another recession looming. This means that you may have to take responsibility for lowering the cost of fuel bills by yourself and adding UPVC windows to your home is a good place to start.

Many may shudder at the thought of double glazing and associate it with rogue salesman turning up at your front door, but the fact is that contemporary windows are essential in the modern home. It consists of two panes of glass which come fixed to a heat insulating UPVC frame designed to trap and store large pockets of heat.

This then gives you the luxury of being able to use your heating less which then cuts the cost of your energy bills and the amount of fuel that you use throughout the day, thus keeping you out of the fuel poverty that so many families across the land dread.

The chances of conventional energy coming down in price is slim to none as the current high cost of energy is in part due to the fact that supplies of it are slowly disappearing. Fossil fuels are a vital part of the very lifeblood of the planet in which we live so it cannot be reiterated enough just how important it is to store as much of it as we possibly can.

Do your bit and add some UPVC doors while you are at it!

Energy efficiency and its importance has become a growing issue amongst environmentalists in the past few years. Emissions from fossil fuels are harmful to the planet and the predominant cause of such problems is the home. Far too many of us over rely on our boilers and this is damaging to our very existence, hence why now is the time to do something about it.

We cannot solely solve the problem of climate change, it needs to be a collective effort. Everyone can do their bit by ensuring that they have double glazing and UPVC windows installed in their home.

UPVC windows are very highly recommended because they have been proved to be energy efficient for thousands of UK homeowners. They achieve a high level of energy efficiency as the two panes of glass used and UPVC frame combine together to trap as much heat as possible so that very little of it is able to pass into the outdoors. All draughts will also disappear once old windows have been ripped out and replaced.

The moment you have new windows in place your existing carbon footprint will be slashed in half so that you no longer need to worry about harming the planet. You can be safe in the knowledge that you are doing your bit for at least the next 20 years as this is the usual expected lifespan of a modern set of windows.

However, you can still do more! Why not also replace your existing doors with UPVC doors for that added bit of energy efficiency. A UPVC door has exactly the same qualities as its window equivalent and will insulate your home to the max.

The responsibility lies with us all as far as preserving this planet we live in for future generations is concerned. Join the cause now!

We may be in the height of summer, but amazingly we are only four months away from Christmas! It is a very scary thought but something you need you think about. Planning ahead is crucial, especially where your home is concerned as you need to be sure that when the cold weather arrives your home provides you with the level of warmth and comfort that you need.

Homeowners who have yet to install UPVC windows in their properties are most likely to be affected by the cold as old windows are poor out keeping out weather from the outdoors. This is because gaps start to appear in old window frames as they age which then results in draughts seeping through and making their way through the home.

When draughts are present in the home the natural instinct is to turn up your heating further which only serves to push up the cost of your heating bills and damage the environment. No-one has to live in this way when double glazing is readily available from local home improvement companies.

New windows guarantee energy efficiency as they utilise whatever heat is generated by a boiler and make sure that as much of it stays trapped within the home for long periods. Never again will you have to keep turning to your heating as warmth will be felt around the home for hours on end. This will of course bring down the cost of your heating bills.

As with a set of UPVC doors, a contemporary window will offer weather-resistance. No matter how bad the weather gets, you can rely upon your windows to keep your home looking appealing. A brand new set of windows really will offer you great value for money and breathe new life into your home well into the long-term future.

With household energy prices continuing to rise, many householders have been left wondering how on earth they are going to be able to afford to keep warm this winter.

As many UK homes suffer from the problem of being badly insulated any warmth quickly escapes from the property and vast amounts of energy are lost. This results in hundreds of pounds being wasted every year and overall contributes to over a quarter of the UK’s carbon emissions.

So with this in mind the Government is set to revolutionise the energy efficiency of British properties with the introduction of the ‘Green Deal’, the first scheme of its kind in the developed world.

Due to launch in autumn 2012 the initiative will allow homeowners to make energy efficient changes to their homes up to the value of £10,000 which can be taken out as a loan. This can then be paid back at a later date, over the next 25 years, through savings made on their energy bills.

The key benefits of this approach are that the upfront costs are removed and the savings exceed any extra cost to the energy bills irrespective of how long somebody lives in a property. Furthermore if the property is sold before the full repayments have been made, it passes on to the new owner of the house.

With the UK committed to reducing carbon emissions by 80% by 2050 this initiative will certainly help in reaching this goal as well as reducing individual household energy bills.

While there is no standard ‘Green Deal’ measure or improvement that will be used on every home it is expected that products such as Double Glazing, UPVC windows and UPVC doors will be included.

More details are expected to be announced later on this year detailing how homeowners can apply for the scheme.

The UPVC window was created in reaction to the fact that conventional supplies of energy were diminishing and the window was one of the main causes of this. Frames used on old windows tended to become less and less reliable as time progressed and they began to get older. This results in draughts appearing in the home and a vast majority of energy being wasted. New windows counteract this and it is essential that all modern day homes invest in them.

UPVC windows are specially constructed so that the glass and frames trap as much heat as possible so that homes stay insulated at all times. The glass can even transfer heat and energy created from the sun into your living space so that you can rely on your heating system that little less often, which in turn helps people save energy. The price of their energy bills will also decrease as a result of this.

Your carbon footprint will also be cut once you have new windows placed in those rooms you use and heat most regularly. This is better for the environment as a whole and will help ensure that traditional fossil fuels can be replenished for future use by younger generations of people.

Homes will never be as secure as they are once they have windows, conservatories or French doors installed. Windows come fitted with an extremely tough locking system designed to prevent anyone from breaking in. Once locked, it will be incredibly hard for someone to gain access to your home as the UPVC window is also internally glazed so that the glass cannot be removed from the outside.

Once you replace your windows you don’t have to think about doing it again for the foreseeable future as the lifespan of a contemporary window is 20 years.

The weather can begin to take its toll on our homes after a while. You may notice that the original finish applied to all your windows and doors may not have the original appeal it had when you first moved into the property. Timber windows and doors will start to rot and flake after a certain amount of time and having to maintain them is the last thing you want to do. You can cut out the need for repair when you replace them with their modern contemporaries.

UPVC windows eliminate the need for any sort of maintenance as they are built to last no matter what hits them. Such is the strength of UPVC that you will find that they have the ability to last at least 20 years before you even need to think about changing them again. There is nothing worse than seeing a home with dirty unkempt windows, but with double glazing you never need to worry about such issues ever again.

As with triple glazing they also come with many other benefits. If outdoor noise is starting to cause you a headache, you will find that new windows will often block out the vast majority of outdoor sounds. They will also help you keep your home warm throughout the year as they are fantastic at insulating heat for long periods of time. High energy bills will be also a thing of the past as all draughts will be gotten rid of.

If you currently have your home up for sale prospective buyers will also be interested to see what type of conservatories and doors you have installed as it could influence whether they decide to pursue their interest further.

Look after your home and it will look after you. Purchasing new windows is a good place to start.

When people hear the words double glazing it fills many of them with dread. Not only does it give off connotations of the local supplier turning up on your doorstep badgering you to buy new windows, but the cost is also enough to put many people off. However, many people are now aware of the many different benefits they can bring and although they will cost you a decent amount of money initially, that money can be recouped and added to even further.

Double glazing is a proven energy-saver as it will reduce the amount of energy that can escape from a home, while also providing you with a more comfortable environment. UPVC windows are created using durable frames and tough glass, which combine together to ensure that heating systems can be relied upon less frequently, bringing down the cost of energy in the process and saving you hundreds of pounds over the next 20 years or so.

Energy efficiency is only a recent concern and wasn’t an issue many years ago. This explains why traditional windows just aren’t designed to prevent energy loss and why they also struggle to maintain their appeal after a certain amount of time. They tend to rot, crack and become less reliable as they get older. But new windows can be trusted to keep their appearance, so that you don’t have to think about replacing them in the immediate future.

The money you put into your new windows could also help prevent the chances of someone managing to break into your home without your permission. All locks fitted are designed to be anti-burglar and can take a tremendous amount of punishment and stress without failing you or your home.

Conservatories can also serve you just as well when you have them installed at the rear of your home.

Buying a conservatory will be one of the most expensive home improvements you can make, but it is usually something that only needs to be done once. This is because most designs have longevity and will provide the looks and luxury that you would expect for a very long time. The UPVC material used to construct them is hard-wearing and durable, meaning that it will not lose its appeal as it gets older and will keep looking great.

Conservatories really can make a huge difference when installed at a property. No longer will you only use the living room or dining room for lounging and dining, as the conservatory will be fit for all occasions. The huge amount of floor space it offers and the extra light that will beam into your home is something that cannot be matched by any other form of home extension. It will also offer you the chance to bring home and garden that little bit closer together.

There is a chance that you may need to obtain planning permission to install a conservatory in your home, but you will only need to do this once. Once permission has been granted, your installation company should speak to you and ask exactly how you want it to be arranged, dealing with any lighting, plumbing and electrical issues.

The glass used in a conservatory will offer you the warmth and energy efficiency you require as double glazing is designed to trap heat and keep out cold air. UPVC windows will allow you to use your new extension all-year round, rather than just during certain months of the year as it won’t over-heat or become too cold.

If you plan on staying at your current home for a long time or want to improve it, a conservatory is the way to go.
